I met a delegation of Kilallan Day Care users today (Monday 10/11/08) at my Linwood surgery.
They are outraged by plans to close their day care centre. Some are paying £6 per week to attend a centre that the council plans to close.

Wendy Alexander called on the Council’s Education Policy Board to use the consultation period to think again. She offered a 3 point plan in her submission.

Wendy Alexander made her own submission to the consultation on the South School Closure that ends at 12 noon tomorrow.
Wendy Alexander said
“Although the Primary School is not in my constituency I have been approached by parents whose children attend the school. Almost 100 constituents have contacted me on this matter to raise their objections.

“The SNP if Fife has faced universal condemnation for raising charges for community alarms for pensioners to £1 per week or £51 pa. So the SNP in Renfrewshire should hang their heads in shame – they have hiked charges fro 850 Renfrewshire tenants from zero to £3 per week or £161 pa.

After a weekend where the national – Show Racism the Red Card campaign was marred locally by the activity of a few rogue St Mirren fans Wendy Alexander MSP urged Buddies to look to the example of Arkleston Primary – winners of the 2007 “Red Card” Action Grant Award.

Responding to the proposals, Wendy Alexander, MSP for Paisley North said:
Youngsters at nursery schools across Renfrewshire will lose out under these plans being considered by the SNP-led Council.
