Scottish Parliament to debate on Paisley as Scotland’s Choir Town
I greatly enjoyed attending the Swingle Singers concert, part of the Voices in Paisley Choral Festival 2008 which drew to an end at the weekend and I have been delighted to give my full support to Paisley’s aspirations to be recognised as Scotland’s Choir Town.
Education Cuts
I make no apology for returning to the subject of Renfrewshire Education cuts. The latest move is closing nursery schools. Renfrewshire council are now proposing to shut all 6 nursery schools in Renfrewshire.
I am acutely aware that a key concern in Renfrewshire and across Scotland is the problems caused by underage drinking. This is made worse by a minority of rogue retailers selling alcohol to under-18s.
I am concerned the Scottish Ambulance Service is being starved of adequate funding.
I was particularly delighted to attend the official opening of the new Linwood High Secondary school.
With summer recess over, this week sees the start of a busy year in the Scottish Parliament.
I am very disappointed that this Scottish Government has introduced new means testing for 60-79 year olds to qualify for Central Heating.
