Wendy Alexander MSP

Wendy’s an MSP who Makes Things Happen

She’s like a whirlwind getting from one meeting to the next and she can can talk just as fast as she can run.

This is Wendy Alexander in full flight and the one sure thing you can guarantee about her is that she gets things done - at breakneck speed.

No one could ask for a more intelligent or articulate MSP to represent them and the amount of work she gets through has to be seen to be believed. Pity her staff as they try to keep up with her.

Wendy knows all about balancing work and family life, as she is the mother of young twins. But she is also a major force in the Scottish Parliament and uses her influence and experience and uses her influence and experience to make big things happen in her constituency.

Take Renfrew, for instance. The people there had been asking for a new health centre to be built in the town.

Wendy saw the merits in the arguments and took up the cudgels on their behalf - prodding, cajoling and negotiating with health board officials and other politicians. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Renfrew is getting a new health centre. That’s Wendy for you.

Then there’s Linwood. Wendy recognised the community’s desire for a new town centre to replace the one they had which was becoming run down and almost derelict. She decided that, indeed, ta new town centre was what the good people of Linwood wanted and deserved - so she set about getting that for them.

Once again, Wendy reached the movers and shakers her political opponents wouldn’t have a hope of reaching and after countless rounds of negotiating, Linwood is now going to get a brand spanking new town centre.

These are just a couple of examples of Wendy in action, but she has countless other successes under her belt making life that little bit better for her constituents of Paisley North.

The above article first appeared in the Renfrewshire Citizen.
